We had many firsts for this event:
- First time 5K
- First time in Alton
- First time committee used
- First time $20K cleared
- First time over 350 walkers/runners
- First time 100% board participation
- First time with teams
- First time reporter AND photographer present during walk/run
- First time for Ballooninaries in honor or in memory of someone who has/had a mental health condition
Quite a number of our participants were nursing and social work students who came to us as a result of speaking engagements. Mark Rudoplph, our Executive Director, regularly meets with nursing students at the office and explains about all things NAMI. Many of us touch other groups by being NAMI's information resource.
